Core Modules - 23rd -24th July 2018

Goals of the IB and Subject Selection

This workshop, will highlight the goals of the IB and how it differs from other programmes, as well as how to select the 6 subjects best for you, your interests, and your future university applications.

The Big Three – achieving the three bonus points from TOK and EE

24th July 14:00 PM - 15:30 PM BST (GMT + 1)

In this workshop, you will get to grips with what the purpose of both of these are, gain the basic knowledge required for TOK, and what to consider before choosing your Extended Essay topic.

Study Skills & Academic Writing

23rd July 14:00 PM - 15:30 PM BST (GMT + 1)

In this workshop, the students will work together with an IB academic writing expert will look at the methods students must master to ensure a high-quality, analysis-driven approach to writing in the IB.

Essential Maths Core and Calculator Skills

24th July 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM BST (GMT + 1)

This workshop will consider the fundamental mathematical principles which run through many subjects in the IB: linear and quadratic equations, mathematical regression and many other techniques which every IB student should have up their sleeve.

Subject Modules - 25th - 27th July 2018

Mathematics HL/SL (Advanced)

25th July 10:00AM -11:30AM, 14:00 PM -15:30 PM BST (GMT + 1)

Learn from an IB graduate about the differences between the Maths SL and Maths HL, explore some of the topics you will come across in your first IB year and cover the assumed knowledge portions of the syllabus.

Biology HL/SL

26th July 10:00 - 11:30 AM, 14:00 - 15:30 PM BST (GMT + 1)

If you are looking to take Biology as your group 4 (Experimental Sciences) subject in the IB, this is the perfect opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the difference between SL and HL and leave with a greater concept of the syllabus.

English

27th July 10:00 - 11:30 AM, 14:00 - 15:30 PM BST (GMT + 1)

This English workshop offers students the chance to explore the IB English subjects through a variety of different channels - begin the morning session by getting to grips with genre-specific terminology expected in the IB, as well as a chance to understand the difference between the Language & Literature and Literature courses, both in terms of content and expectation as well as what universities look for from English students.

Mathematics SL/Studies (Standard)

If you are thinking of focusing on Humanities, Languages, or the Arts for your Higher Levels, but are still interested in the fundamentals of Mathematics, then this workshop is for you.


Chemistry HL/SL

If you will be taking Chemistry as your group 4 subject, this is an opportunity to discover more about the differences in SL and HL - what details will you be required to remember as an HL student, and what does the advanced part of the syllabus imply?

Physics HL/SL
