Maartenscollege was established in 1946 by the Society of Jesus in the province of Groningen. In 1984, a separate international section was founded, and in 2005 the international section was renamed International School of Groningen and became an independent school. Both schools still share campuses occassionally and continue to work closely together. The Interntional School offers the IB MYP and DP, while the original Maartenscollege specialises in the Dutch curriculum.
